The information obtained from the medical records of 74 patients revealed that in all forms of surgery , excess weight is lost in 61 % of cases, a year after surgery.surgery weight reduction There were 16 adverse events , including two deaths ( 3 %) compared to surgical complications. Acute kidney injury was more common (4% ), followed by the leak ( 3%) , acidosis and high blood potassium levels ( 3%), postoperative pulmonary infection ( 3%), vitamin B12 deficiency / iron (3%) , lack of fistula / graft ( 3%), and stroke ( 1%). "Although bariatric surgery is effective for weight loss in obese patients with chronic kidney disease, adverse effects and mortality rates are higher ," the authors conclude. " Identification of risk factors adverse events and non-surgical alternatives research remain priorities . "
